HEAD START TO READING is to be taken the year before kindergarten. Making books and other hands-on experiences are used to teach students 2-3 kindergarten sight words each lesson! Students receive word cards to practice at home. 

60 minutes a week, for 10 weeks.

HANDWRITING is the 3rd core class to take before kindergarten. Students will continue to practice letter sounds while learning correct letter formation, line placement, and pencil grip. A weekly handwriting practice will be given to complete.

PHONICS is the final class to take before kindergarten. Students will learn about digraphs like sh, ch, th, wh, etc. while still using their sight words and letter sounds to decode and read early readers.  Students will go home each week with a book to read at home.

NEXT STEPS TO READING is the 2nd reading class to be taken the year before kindergarten. Students will learn how to figure out words by using sounds, context and pictures. Students will receive word cards and early reader books each lesson. 60 minutes a week, for 10 weeks.

INTRO TO KINDERGARTEN WRITING is the final class to take before kindergarten. Students will use what they've learned about letter sounds, stretching out words, and letter formation to begin writing sentences.
